Alumni Spotlight: Josie Strauch | Class of 2021
As the founder of Hometown Barkery, Josie combined her love for animals and agriculture by crafting natural, high-quality dog treats. Her business reflected her passion for better ingredients and even better care for our four-legged friends.
Josie recently earned her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education from Murray State University and is now beginning her Master’s in General Agriculture. This fall, she’ll be teaching high school agriculture in central Illinois, sharing her knowledge and passion with the next generation of students.
“Being part of CEO had a significant impact on me by strengthening my communication skills with both peers and professionals. It boosted my confidence in my own abilities and helped me form meaningful connections that continue to influence my personal and professional growth. Most importantly, it deepened my understanding of the community I grew up in and showed me the value of local engagement and entrepreneurship.”
“In five years, I see myself building a life with my family in the same community, teaching the next generation about the importance of agriculture and its value to their own lives. My goal is to give back to the next generation and help them realize their potential—just as others once did for me.”
